"Don’t let the autism diagnosis intimidate you. Do give yourself some time. Do some reading. Ask some questions. Do not jump to conclusions. Do not let all the doctors, therapists, educators, or the price tag that comes with autism intimidate you. One day you will look back on this and wish you could reassure yourself because you’ve got this."
Families that receive a special needs diagnosis are faced with a confusing and sometimes frightening future that feels isolating and overwhelming. Their need for support and training is essential during the very early stages of receiving this diagnosis to help them better understand and respond to the complex nature of their child. This support group was developed to help families:
*have on-going guidance from a knowledgeable mentor
*develop a network of supportive individuals who have similar experiences
*be connected to appropriate resources
We hope to see you at Popcorn Pack, we meet the second Tuesday of every month at The Eliza Hope Therapy Center.
